We are looking for a new Senior Mortgage Underwriter & Account Manager. Specifically someone who loves to strategize, is super organized, pays attention to the details, enjoys following a proven system, gets satisfaction from problem solving and has a strong desire to help clients prosper financially.

Here are the specifics on the role…
Role (Overview of the Position)
- Responsible for managing relationships with assigned clients, providing top notch mortgage advice, mentoring support staff who assist with onboarding of clients and basic fulfillment tasks, and underwriting mortgage transactions from pre-qualification through to closing.
Responsibilities (Tasks Associated with the Role)
- Client relationship management
- Nurture client relationships for new and existing clients as they grow their portfolios
- Provide an outstanding client experience through top notch advice and courteous professional service
- Advisory
- Assess client needs to understand each client’s goals and finances
- Utilize deep knowledge of income property financing to determine financing options for clients
- Master Streetwise’s Income Property Financing Roadmap TM Methodology to conduct strategy / planning sessions with clients to help them understand their qualification and the most optimal financing road map / structures for building their portfolio
- Handle all financing questions for clients you manage
- Mentoring Your Support
- Managing your Junior Underwriting & Fulfillment Officer (direct report) will who will work with you hand-in-hand on a daily basis to help with client onboarding, organizing documents, Filogix setup, and basic underwriting fulfillment tasks
- Setting performance targets, goal, and providing ongoing feedback and coaching to your mortgage support specialist to ensure that you work effectively together in providing an exceptional service level to clients
- Underwriting
- Help clients by structuring financing of deals in a strategic manner that helps them scale their portfolio (you will be trained on the Streetwise Income Property Financing Roadmap TM framework when joining our team)
- Master income property financing rules for a variety of lenders
- Evaluate and analyze mortgage applications including income, assets, liability, property, credit, business financials, and purchase agreements provided by client
- Verifying the information received to ensure accuracy
- Recommend financing strategies and solutions based on your assessment of the file, understanding of the income property lending guidelines, and the Streetwise Financing Roadmap framework
- Review appraisals
- Liaise with lenders and negotiate the best financing options on behalf of clients
- Ensuring all information entered on D+H Expert / Filogix is accurate
- Respond to questions or concerns from clients in a timely and courteous manner to ensure timely and accurate completion of each mortgage transaction
- Handle and resolve escalated issues and offer solutions in order to maintain high client satisfaction
- Utilize the Streetwise Mortgages CRM Deal Management software
- Keep current with the income property financing guidelines with A and B lenders
- Keep current with all relevant legislations and mortgage agent / broker licensing
Results (Expected Accomplishments)
- Close a minimum of 10 mortgage transactions per month
- Maintain a high level of client satisfaction (tracked via regular client surveys)
- Handle most client interaction from onboarding to closing
- Resolve all client issues, questions, concerns independently
- Utilize the Streetwise tools for productivity and client experience improvements
- Contribute to the Streetwise Academy knowledgebase
Requirements (Expected Proficiencies)
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Minimum of 3 years experience on the broker side of the mortgage industry
- Minimum of 3 years licensed as a mortgage agent / broker
- Ontario mortgage agent licence required (out of province applicants welcome to complete prior to start date)
- Proficiency with D+H Expert / Filogix
- Experience underwriting income property mortgage transactions and familiarity with income property & self-employed income guidelines with a variety of lenders including Scotiabank, TD, ICICI, Equitable, Home Trust, and others
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Basic tech savvy with ability to effectively use email, internet, Excel, file sharing, e-signatures, PDF documents, CRM system and Zoom
- Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage deadlines and generate results in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to problem-solve independently
- Reliable high-speed internet connection, laptop/desktop computer

What We Offer
- Attractive base compensation of $70,000+ per year depending on experience
- Monthly split of 5bps on closed volume
- Monthly split of 5% of the finder’s fees for deals initiated and handled beginning to end by you as the account manager
- Senior Underwriters / Account Managers are typically earning an additional $25,000 to $45,000 in performance comp on top of base salary and top performers earning much more
