The Account Manager will support a Senior Relationship Manager, in a team format, with managing client relationships and originating new financing opportunities. The Account Manager may work directly or indirectly with clients and will be responsible for analyzing and underwriting new term and construction loans, preparing investment summaries, and preparing term sheets and commitment letters.

General Information on the Position

Main responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Senior Relationship Managers to review and structure new loan requests
  • Underwrite new loans, gather relevant market information to substantiate recommendation, and prepare investment summaries that outline the details, analysis and merits of the loans
  • Evaluate loan risks and establish appropriate loan amount and loan pricing based on the institution’s risk appetite
  • Prepare and issue term sheets and commitment letters upon approval by Senior Management
  • Ensure legal requirements, prefunding conditions and due diligence conditions are satisfied prior to funding
  • Review third party reports to ensure that they satisfy and comply with all the approved loan conditions, internal policies and guidelines and prudent risk management practices
  • Underwrite amendments, renewals, refinances and annual reviews and assist with the negotiation of any amendments to terms and conditions, as required
  • Review cost consultant reports and prepare draw requests for all loan advances
  • Work with the loan servicing department to manage funding of initial and subsequent loan advances on all financings
  • Perform any other work or duties required for the success of the team or as assigned by the Group Head.

  • Currently regular telework because of the pandemic. Position located in Montreal, depending on the applicant selected. The work arrangement for the position is hybrid work #LI-Hybrid

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree (preferably in Commerce or Business Administration, with a Major in Urban Land Economics/Real Estate, Finance or equivalent is an asset)
  • A minimum of six years of experience in the real estate lending industry

Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • For vacant positions available in Quebec, please note that knowledge of French is required

Specific knowledge

  • Knowledge of the commercial real estate marketplace
  • Strong knowledge of commercial real estate underwriting
  • Strong knowledge of the various stages of real estate development and construction projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and Word
